Our Story

Piedmont Composites & Tooling is a unique composites company that has been in operation for over four decades. Founded in 1972 by Phares and Carrie Caudle, our business is built on a foundation of old-fashioned craftsmanship and modern composite technology. We started out in the architectural composites industry and have since expanded to offer a wide range of products and services.

Our Services

At Piedmont Composites & Tooling, we are proud to offer a diverse range of services that cater to various industries. Our Architectural Division specializes in manufacturing church steeples, baptistries, wall crosses, and cupolas, as well as non-combustible wall and ceiling panels for laboratories, food services, healthcare, and animal science industries. Our Commercial Division designs and manufactures a variety of products, including fiberglass bait tanks and other products sold directly to end-users. Our O.E.M. Division manufactures component parts for the marine, utility, communication, water recreation, and transportation industries. We also offer composites tooling for composites products and thermoform vacuum tooling for the sign industry.

Our team at Piedmont Composites & Tooling is divided into four areas of expertise: Architectural, Commercial, Tooling, and O.E.M. We take pride in our ability to provide high-quality products and services that meet the unique needs of each customer. With numerous years of training and experience, we have developed a strong reputation for our attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Our Factory

Our 170,000 square foot factory in Taylorsville, NC is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Our Open Molding Department features four chopper guns supplied by a 53,000 gallon bulk resin system, as well as a back coating system and hand lay-up station. We also have a fully looped vacuum system with over 100 mold stations and a specifically designed resin flow system that delivers precise amounts of resin to each mold. Our Light Resin Transfer Molding (LRTM) facility is designed to maintain a <50 ppm styrene level through a heated and cooled ventilation system.
