Our Story

At Wilets Architecture, we believe that great architecture is not just about designing buildings, but about creating spaces that improve lives and add value to communities. Our team of experienced architects, led by Principal Scott E. Wilets, has been dedicated to crafting inspired residential and community spaces for over two decades.

We offer a comprehensive range of services, from single-family residential design to multifamily and community projects. Our expertise spans from custom residential design of single-family homes to multifamily buildings, as well as community and institutional projects. Our team takes a collaborative approach to architecture, working closely with clients to ensure a successful outcome for each project.

Our Process

Our design process is centered around understanding our clients' goals and creating beautiful and integrated designs that meet their needs. We begin with a comprehensive on-site consultation to discuss goals, brainstorm design approaches, review zoning constraints, define costs, and assess the feasibility of the project. We also introduce ourselves and present the work of our firm.

Once an Owner-Architect agreement has been accepted, we work with clients to develop and refine a vision for their project. We review the property and further define the scope and program requirements, discuss the budget and any constraints, and document existing conditions.

In the Schematic Design phase, we present rough sketches to show the general concept with various schemes for consideration. We create models, sketches, or 3-dimensional renderings to explain the design. After selecting and approving a Schematic Design, we create a comprehensive set of Construction Documents (CD's) with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical scope.

We guide clients in selecting details that go into outline specifications listing materials, finishes, and product schedules. Our thorough set of CD's results in more accurate final bids and a smoother permit review process with fewer surprises during construction.

During the Construction Administration phase, we ensure open dialogue between the owner, architect, and contractor, coordinating construction and facilitating regular progress meetings. We observe construction, assess whether the contractor is building consistent with design intent, and review contractor payment applications.

Our team is led by Principal Scott E. Wilets, who has over twenty years of experience working with homeowners, developers, and contractors throughout the Washington metropolitan region. Scott has a proven track record of delivering successful projects, from custom residential design to multifamily and community projects.
