Our firm, located on Audubon Street in downtown New Haven, was established in 1990 by Paul B. Bailey, AIA, a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture. Since then, we have grown into a mid-sized firm of diverse talents, including six registered architects and project managers. Our firm has developed a reputation for high-quality design work in the areas of master planning for municipal, religious, and other non-profit organizations, multi-family housing, the renovation and restoration of historic structures, and single-family residences. We take pride in creating structures that look as though they truly belong in their surrounding neighborhood, inside or attached to their existing building, or within their existing space or room.

At our firm, we prioritize the special needs of the individual client and respect for the historic context and setting of each project. Our design efforts have been recognized nationally with several prestigious awards over the years, and we have many returning clients who bring us new projects. We are known for our high-quality and cost-effective project modernization and new construction, and we specialize in working with HUD, CHFA, and/or DECD funded multi-family housing projects.

Our firm is located in New Haven, Connecticut, and we have been proudly serving the state for over 30 years. We have won 44 awards in the construction industry and are known for our expertise and talent.

We specialize in HUD, CHFA, and/or DECD funded multi-family housing projects, and have worked on projects worth over $200 million involving over 8,500 residential units.

Our Team

Our team consists of experienced and talented professionals, including Paul B. Bailey, AIA, our principal, who has nearly 50 years of experience in the field and over 40 prestigious national architecture awards to his name. Our Senior Associate, Susan Bridgewater Odell, has over 25 years of diverse experience in architecture, and is a certified Passive House consultant. Richard Rakoczy, our Senior Project Manager, has a unique career history with hands-on experience in construction and over 20 subsequent years in architecture. Our Job Captain / Draftsperson, Janice Blanck, has over 28 years of experience at Paul B. Bailey Architect, LLC, and is responsible for all phases of design and construction drawings. Shubashree Balakumar, Project Architect, has over 25 years of experience in the architectural field, and is a Registered Architect in Connecticut. Sabina Mazare, Draftsperson, has 24 years of experience in the architectural field and is responsible for all phases of construction document production.
