UA Local 404

UA Local 404 is the region's leading union for elite pipefitters, welders, plumbers, and HVAC-R service technicians. With a history that spans over a century, our Local was officially chartered in 2013, but our roots run deep through the legacy of three former UA Locals - 196, 389, and 629. These Locals were renowned for their steadfast commitment to providing exceptional service to their members and for supplying highly skilled and trained tradespeople to their signatory contractors.

Our journeymen and apprentices excel in a diverse range of sectors, including energy, heavy industrial, commercial, medical, institutional, and residential. From constructing pipelines that transport vital crude oil, to refineries that process it, to other manufacturing and industrial plants, hospitals, schools, office buildings, apartments, and homes, UA Local 404 members are there, working tirelessly.

Our members have undergone rigorous training through our registered apprenticeship program, becoming experts in their respective trades, which encompass pipe fitting, welding, plumbing, and HVAC-R service. As journeymen, they continually enhance their skillset by taking upgrade courses. Our top priority is ensuring our members have access to safe working conditions and that safety guidelines are strictly adhered to by both contractors and construction workers.

Through a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), we guarantee our members receive fair wages, premier health insurance, and outstanding retirement benefits for their hard work. Local 404 signatory contractors provide full-family health insurance and a 401k plan. Moreover, employers contribute to the United Association National Pension Benefit Plan, which ensures a high-quality retirement for our members after a successful and rewarding career in the union pipe trades.

Our members work on various projects, such as power plants, paper mills, oil refineries, chemical plants, and offshore and onshore drilling platforms.
