Our Story

Founded in 1987, our firm has served a wide range of clients, including residential, commercial, and non-profit agencies throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. With a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and over 35 years of experience in the industry, our principal, Brian J. Billings, brings a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and attention to detail to every project. From new construction to renovations and restorations, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional architectural designs that meet the specific needs of each client.

Passive Solar

Passive solar design is the most cost-effective way to make green architecture. By using timeless principles, we create buildings that are well-lit, comfortable, and energy-efficient. South-facing windows, with controlled shading, allow the sun's direct rays to enter the building during the cooler months and keep them out during the hot months. The mass of the building and its contents store heat, providing natural insulation and reducing the need for electrical heating and cooling.

Active Solar

Active solar applications, such as thermal solar and photovoltaics, represent the more technical side of solar architecture. Thermal solar collectors gather energy using a heat transfer fluid, which brings thermal energy into the building for space heating and domestic hot water. Photovoltaic systems convert the sun's light into electrical energy, which can be used for the building's energy needs or stored in batteries for off-grid installations.
