About Us

California Eco Design was founded in 2010 on Earth Day, with the mission to change how we treat the land. We believe that landscapes can and must provide more than just aesthetics; they can and should provide ecological benefits, food, medicine, and habitat for the biodiversity we depend on.

Our founder, Kai Craig, has a lifelong appreciation for the relationship between people and the environment. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from UC Berkeley in Conservation and Resource Studies, with a focus on coastal ecology. He received his Master's degree in Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona and has worked for the City of Los Angeles' Watershed Protection Division.

Kai has been recognized as a Watershed Wise Landscape Professional (WWLP) and has been named to the Los Angeles Expert Biodiversity Council and Committee Chair of the Long Beach Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Gardens Program.
