Fruitstitute is a unique fruit tree care and education service that brings together the principles of regenerative land management, arboriculture, and orcharding to provide expert care and education to backyard growers in Los Angeles. Our mission is to empower our clients with the knowledge and skills to grow their own nutritious and delicious fruit trees.

Our Story

Fruitstitute was founded in March 2018 by Joanna Glovinsky, a passionate gardener and educator with a background in arboriculture and community engagement. Joanna recognized the need for fruit tree care and education and set out to create a service that would provide expert guidance and support to backyard growers. She was joined by Chris Lynch, a seasoned pruner and descendant of a long line of French plum orchardists, who brings his expertise and experience to the table.

Our Purpose

As a Public Benefit Corporation, Fruitstitute has two bottom lines: financial and public benefit. Our public benefit purpose is to "sequester carbon through growing and planting fruit trees and building healthy soil and creating and implementing educational tools for teaching people about trees, soil and growing their own fruit." We measure our success by the number of trees planted, units of compost sold, and properties serviced, as well as the number of workshops and educational materials published.
