Concept Design

Our process begins with the development of a concept plan that incorporates your wishes for your new space and our design recommendations. We work closely with you to identify an appealing theme-such as Mediterranean, tropical, Southwest, Japanese, or cottage garden-that reflects your style and preferences. The resulting concept plan captures the essence of your new garden, serving as a basis for cost estimates and construction.

Plant Selection

Once the concept plan is complete, we move on to plant selection. Our planting plan shows the exact location, type, and eventual size of each new plant, ensuring a cohesive and visually pleasing result. We carefully select plants that complement your garden's theme, considering factors like size, growth patterns, and blooming seasons to create a dynamic and engaging outdoor space.

Irrigation Layout

Hand watering is often impractical for all but the smallest gardens. To ensure your new garden thrives, particularly during California's dry summers, we recommend and design drip irrigation systems suitable for most plants and lawns. Our automatic watering systems help establish your garden, promoting long-term health and vitality.

Consulting

In addition to providing garden designs for new and ongoing clients, we offer hourly consulting services for project oversight, installation guidance, and ongoing maintenance. Landscaping Tips

To help you maintain a beautiful and sustainable garden, we provide the following tips for drought-proofing your garden:

• Complete winter cleanup and pruning as early as possible. Pruning after growth starts can further stress plants.
• Prune roses and other garden shrubs and perennials more lightly than usual. Lower soil moisture due to drought can make it difficult for plants to recover from heavy pruning.
• Deep water during dry winter months to help build soil moisture reserves for the upcoming growing season.
