Emery McClure Architecture is a design research practice that believes that design matters to society and that the built environment has unlimited potential to make the world more beautiful, more useful, and more meaningful. We are a collaborative studio that creates unexpected solutions from common problems, using an inclusive philosophy that resolves opposing forces to develop unique and accessible solutions.
Our Philosophy
We believe that design should celebrate, uncover, and make more vivid the cultural, environmental, and social contexts of a project. As students of material culture, we investigate how the things people make are intertwined with how they negotiate their surroundings and how that negotiation becomes an expression of culture. We respect our past, engage our present, and envision a resilient future.
Our Services
Our practice is not bound by scale or type. We engage in full-scale material and spatial installations, commissioned building projects, and speculative design visions. We push ourselves to question our constructed realm within changing environments, what our responsibilities are to our ecosystem of which we are part, and our potential contributions to a more resilient and healthier dynamic future.
Our Approach
Our design research practice integrates and finds overlaps in all of our activities. We are designers that are focused on the human condition, and we are optimists. We believe that design can solve the world's biggest problems, and we conduct scholarship, perform material and spatial research, and create propositions on how design can make a positive impact.
Our Projects
Our portfolio includes a wide range of projects, from residential and civic projects to commercial and speculative designs. We have worked on projects such as Geode Fontana, Jeeves House, Pecan GATOR House, and many more. We have also worked on civic projects such as Our Lady of Guadeloupe, Buchanan Mixed Use, and Chapel A. Hays Town Exhibit.

We believe that design should be accessible to all, and that it should celebrate and respect the cultural, environmental, and social contexts of a project. We strive to create solutions that are unique, familiar, ideal, and accessible, while being practical and poetic.
