Our Building Process

At Silverwood, we believe that building a custom home or remodeling an existing one is a collaboration between the builder and the client. Our building process is communication and planning-focused, and it includes the following steps:

• Evaluate: We help clients evaluate different lots to determine which land will work best for their dream home.
• Design: We work together with experienced draftsman to put the perfect plans and specs to paper, discussing every detail as we go.
• Construct: Once the design is perfected, and permits have been pulled, we start building.
• Walkthrough: Once the home is completed, we do a final walkthrough with the client to ensure that everything is exactly how they imagined it.

Silverwood's team has a combined 80 years of experience, and our owner, Kendall Smith, has the invaluable background of being a third-generation home builder. Our team is committed to sharing the same work ethic and attention to detail that Kendall has brought to every project for over 30 years. Kendall, the founder and president of Silverwood, started going on job sites at the young age of eight and brings invaluable experience as a third-generation builder. He takes pride in being known as one of Traverse City's premier custom home builders and understands that the success of Silverwood wouldn't be possible without the support of the community. When Kendall is not building other people's dreams, he enjoys golfing, boating on West Bay, and spending time with his family and grandkids.
