Our History

Com-Steel, LLC was founded in 1990 by Doug Smith and his wife Maralee, who designed and permitted commercial and industrial buildings. In 1995, the company partnered with Jack Laird Construction, a well-known local contractor, and was officially renamed Com-Steel, LLC. In 1997, Doug's daughter Sara Brown and Jack's son Ric Wilson joined the leadership of the company, taking over the reins after the retirement of Doug and Jack.

Over the years, Com-Steel, LLC has continued to grow and expand, with the addition of Nick Lange to the ownership group in 2020. Nick, a WABO certified welder and field construction leader, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the company.
