Our history dates back to 1939, when my grandfather, George Heatwole, started auctioneering by conducting Estate Auctions. Over the years, our family expanded into the auction industry, opening our first auction house in the 1970s. In 1981, we bought the schoolhouse on Pleasant Hill Road, known as Old School Auction. After years of experience in the auction industry, I decided to start the moving business, Affordable Moving LLC, to provide a similar level of service to our customers.

At Affordable Moving LLC, we pride ourselves on being owner-operated, with me personally involved in every move. Our movers are committed to personal attention throughout your move process and will treat your possessions as their own. With over 60 years of experience, we have the expertise to customize any move to fit any budget and specific need. We also offer packing, senior transitioning, and downsizing services to ensure a comprehensive moving experience.

Our services are based on an affordable hourly rate that covers the job from start to finish, including our truck, a driver, and required laborers. Additional costs for travel outside of Harrisonburg, moving specialized items, or moving to specialized locations may apply, but these will be disclosed prior to your move. Payment is required immediately upon the conclusion of your move.

We have several storage facilities that we recommend and do business with regularly, ensuring that your items are stored in a clean and safe environment.
