William Hewitt's passion for woodworking began in his youth and blossomed into a lifelong career, spanning over three decades. Growing up near Boston, he discovered his love for the craft and later moved to the vibrant Pioneer Valley in the late 1970s to immerse himself in the world of fine furniture making under the guidance of renowned craftsman David Powell at the Leeds Design Workshop in Easthampton.

From this foundation, Hewitt established his own woodworking studio on the third floor of the historic One Cottage Street building in Easthampton, a hub for a community of artisans specializing in woodworking, crafts, and art. In his workshop, Hewitt subscribes to the philosophy that each design is a unique solution tailored to the specific needs and desires of his clients. When crafting a piece, he meticulously considers the placement within a room, its intended use, and the client's personal aesthetic, all while infusing his own signature style. His designs often exhibit an architectural inspiration, emphasizing the selection of wood for its beautiful figure, color, and intrinsic qualities.

Hewitt's dedication to the craft extends beyond furniture making. He is also the proud owner of the Funny Farm, a five-acre organic vegetable and berry farm nestled beside the Connecticut River in Whately. This connection to nature informs his design sensibilities, grounding his creations in a sense of organic beauty and timeless elegance.
