Ashokan Architecture & Planning is a full-service architectural and interior design firm with offices in New York's Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes region. We are a team of talented minds working together to provide exceptional service and value to our clients. Our team is led by Brad Will, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, a Cornell University Architecture program graduate with over 36 years of design and construction phase experience. We collaborate on creative, energy-efficient solutions that are unique and specific to each client's needs.

Concept & Design Ideas

The concept and design phase is where all architecture begins. During this phase, we work closely with our clients to understand their goals and develop concepts that meet those goals. We establish functional, spatial relationships, address site orientation, and determine the flow of the facility.

Master Planning

Master planning can be performed as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with traditional architectural services. This work involves site analysis of existing conditions, site planning and placement of multiple structures on a property, or phased construction for anticipated additions to a structure. Master planning allows for 'glimpsing into the future' and provides a four-dimensional map of construction and site development.

Renderings/Presentations

At Ashokan Architecture & Planning, we have a wide range of presentation capabilities to suit the diverse needs of our clients. We use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to simulate the realistic appearance of a building, interior space details, and site conditions. We also use hand rendering for initial design sketches through final renderings, using pencil, pen-and-ink, markers, or watercolor.

Construction Documentation

The construction documentation (CD) phase represents the bulk of architectural services for almost any given project. Construction Documents describe the building's dimensional form, structure, materials, finishes, and mechanical systems. We review building code requirements and integrate them into drawings, and calibrate the design to exceed energy codes. We also integrate product information, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems, ready for a contractor to bid and building department permit issuance.

• Woodstock Commons, a LEED Silver Accredited, Multi-Generational Senior & Workforce Campus with 52 geothermally heated and cooled units
• Margaretville House, a 2,500 sf house for a creative couple
• Woodstock House, a geothermally heated and cooled house with magnificent eastern vistas
• Bard College projects, including the Village Dormitory complex, the 163-room North Campus Student Living Center, and a new wing to its Avery Blum Film & Music Center
• Woodstock Way, a 23 unit, 8-building boutique hotel in the center of Woodstock
• Malibu House, a 'Modern Mission' private residence high in the Santa Monica Range above the Pacific Ocean
