D & D Harvey Architects

D&D Harvey Architects is a small architectural firm based in Sag Harbor, NY, established in 1995 by the husband and wife team, David C. Harvey and Dawn W. Harvey. With over three decades of experience in the field, we have completed more than 60 projects, each one designed with a unique approach tailored to our clients' specific needs. Our work is primarily focused on Eastern Long Island, where we have built a reputation for creating inspiring and functional environments that blend seamlessly with the natural and surrounding environment.

Our philosophy is rooted in Organic Design, a concept that emerged during the Modernist Movement, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between the built and natural environment. We believe that responsible architecture should respond to programmatic necessity and its surroundings while providing innovative interpretations. Our designs are not limited to a particular style but are instead guided by our clients' preferences and the unique characteristics of each project.

Passive House

This standard is based on decades of research in building science and accurate energy modeling, with a proven track record of built projects performing as predicted. With an impressive maximum annual heat demand of 4.75 kBtu/sf, Passive House is the easiest way to achieve Net Zero energy performance. By designing buildings to meet Passive House standards, we can create environments that are comfortable, healthy, and economical to operate.

ENERGY STAR Certified

ENERGY STAR certified homes are independently verified to be at least 15% more energy-efficient than a home built to the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code, with additional measures delivering a total energy efficiency improvement of up to 30 percent compared to a typical new home. By designing buildings to meet ENERGY STAR standards, we can create environments that are energy-efficient, comfortable, and cost-effective to operate.

LEED Assessed

LEED is an internationally recognized building program with a comprehensive sustainability approach. Buildings are assessed based on a combination of mandatory and elective measures in several different categories - Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation. Several certification levels are awarded - LEED Certified, LEED Silver, LEED Gold, and LEED Platinum.
