At Newphire Building, we are a progressive, high-performance home builder based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Our team is dedicated to building beautiful, comfortable, and energy-efficient homes that are not only beneficial for our clients but also for the environment.

Our name, Newphire, was inspired by the book "Reinventing Fire" by Amory Lovins and the Rocky Mountain Institute. The idea is to harness the power of energy efficiency and renewable sources to build a better future. We are one of the few Certified Passive House Builders in North Carolina, and we are passionate about creating homes that can achieve net-zero energy status.

Our Name

The name "Newphire" is a combination of the concept of a new fire, which refers to the efficient use of energy and the utilization of renewable sources, and a nod to the Passive House building standard. This name reflects our commitment to building high-quality, sustainable homes that are both functional and environmentally friendly.

Our Process

Throughout the entire process, we maintain open communication with our clients to ensure that their needs are met and that they are completely satisfied with the final product.

Our Staff

Our team is led by Kevin Murphy, President and Founder of Newphire Building. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a Master of Education degree. He is a licensed general contractor and a certified Passive House builder. Kevin has a wealth of experience in the construction industry and is dedicated to building homes that are both functional and sustainable.
