Our Story

With a degree in Construction Management from Western Illinois University, our founder, David Hanson, began his career in the construction industry in 1983. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a superintendent for Continental Homes in Denver and later, a facilities director for an outdoor youth and environmental project in Big Sur, California. During his time in Big Sur, David developed a deep appreciation for ecological development and off-grid living, which continues to influence his approach to construction.

In 1995, David relocated to Santa Cruz, California, where he founded David Hanson Construction. Since then, he has honed his skills as an artisan builder, certified green building professional, and licensed general contractor. With a network of talented contractors, sub-contractors, and designers, David has built a reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable, and beautiful projects that exceed his clients' expectations.
