Solar Spirits Distillery

At Solar Spirits, we are committed to providing the highest quality, award-winning spirits that are not only delicious but also sustainably produced. Our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in our mission to put the power of the sun in every bottle.

Our spirits are crafted with the finest ingredients sourced directly from local Washington State farms. We use a double distillation process, employing both a pot still and a column still, which gives us precise control over the flavors in our spirits. These spirits are then used as the base for our final products, ensuring the best possible taste and quality.

Our mash process is powered by solar tubes, which is a significant step towards our goal of creating a distillery powered entirely by the sun. We believe in reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainability in all aspects of our operations. Even when we are unable to generate enough power from the sun, we purchase Renewable Energy Credits (REC) to offset our electricity usage. These REC's are Green-e Energy Certified, ensuring they meet the highest environmental and consumer-protection standards.

Our Team

Behind the scenes at Solar Spirits, we have a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about creating the best possible spirits. Our Master Distiller, Jim Batdorf, is a PhD. Chemical Engineer with over thirty years of experience in the design and operation of new process technologies. He has a knack for applying his engineering background to develop sustainable technology for distillation, creating award-winning craft vodkas, gins, brandies, and whiskies.

Our Production Manager, Dan Watt, joined us in 2017 as a Distiller. He has a wealth of knowledge on fermentation and production management, gained from his education at WSU Tri-Cities Viticulture and Enology and the Walla Walla Community College Enology and Viticulture programs. With years of experience in fine dining and tending bar, he brings a unique perspective to our team.
