Our Team

Our team is comprised of experienced professionals who are passionate about producing high-quality built spaces that delight homeowners. Our team members are committed to providing a work environment that is respectful of workers and mutually beneficial toward them.

Bruce Brotzman, our Owner/Manager, originally from the Midwest, moved to the Research Triangle Region of NC almost 20 years ago and has been a resident of Carteret County for the past 10 years. Bruce established Blue Green Construction in 2013, and he has worked hard to assemble a team of top-notch workers and outstanding subcontractors focused on serving our community well.

Peter Brotzman, our Project Manager, moved from Wisconsin to Morehead City in 2019 with his wife and four boys to partner with his uncle and help run his growing construction company. Peter is a second-generation carpenter and brings over two decades of residential and commercial building experience.

Juliana Torres, our Office Manager, decided to make Carteret County her permanent home after spending years traveling and working as a chef in the United States Coast Guard. With a background in graphic design and hospitality, she truly enjoys helping our clients with all of their needs.

Process

At Blue Green, we take listening seriously. Our building process begins with a pre-construction meeting where we discuss your wants, needs, and expectations. We then go over particulars such as the house plan you have chosen, whether you own your lot, and the time frame to then provide a preliminary estimate as a point of departure.

We then move on to a budget and design consultation where we propose thoughtful design ideas along with cost-benefit analysis. You will select design elements such as exterior finishes, review cabinet plans, and begin the interior design process. We will establish the home plan that is uniquely yours and a budget that fits your finances.

Based on detailed drawings, specifications, and work descriptions, we provide a final estimate of costs, timelines, and draw schedules. Once the agreement is satisfactory for both parties, we finalize the contract and deposit to start the building process.

Before construction begins, we evaluate the building site to ensure it is suitable for construction. We prepare the site by clearing and grading the land, installing utilities, and laying the foundation.

During the construction phase, we keep you updated on the progress and ensure that all work is done according to the agreed-upon specifications. We conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and address any issues promptly.

Once the construction is complete, we conduct a final walk-through with you to ensure that everything meets your expectations. We address any punch list items and ensure that you are completely satisfied with your new home or renovation.
