Our company consists of two main divisions: Helms & Sons Excavating (HSX) and Helms Construction, Inc. (HCI). HSX offers a range of services including heavy highway, site, utility, and paving services, while HCI specializes in building construction and design-build capabilities.

Our History

In 1997, our founder, Shane Helms, started the company with a second-hand backhoe, offering his services to his hometown. Since then, we have grown to become premier contractors serving Northwest Ohio and the surrounding area. Our commitment to excellence has earned us a reputation for reliability and quality workmanship.

Over the years, we have expanded our services to include public, commercial, and residential construction, design-build projects, underground utilities, site development, mass earthworks, concrete and asphalt paving, road and highway construction, culverts and bridges, decorative and structural concrete, and ODOT-certified GPS-equipped services. Our expertise in these areas has made us a trusted partner for various projects.
