If you are looking for the absolute best rug care in San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, or even San Francisco, look no further than Ali at Bay Area Rug Cleaners. I have been using bay area rugs for many years. People send rugs to him from Hillsborough, Atherton, and Palo Alto, and the results are consistently world-class.
What sets Ali apart is that he doesn't just 'clean' a rug--he restores its integrity. He is a master at repairing fringes and edges that have worn down over time, and his skill in fixing moth damage is unmatched. He has an incredible eye for detail and even moth-proofed my rugs for free, which is a level of service you just don't find anymore.
The convenience is also unbeatable. They offer free pickup and drop-off services across all major cities, including San Francisco, Millbrae, Burlingame, San Carlos, Menlo Park, Woodside, Los Altos, Mountain View, and all the way down to San Jose and surrounding areas. It makes maintaining my home so much easier knowing I don't have to haul heavy, delicate rugs myself.
Whether you have a silk Persian heirloom or a modern designer piece, Art treats every rug like a work of art. He is honest, knowledgeable, and the only 'rug crafter' I trust. My rugs came back looking vibrant, soft, and perfectly preserved. Highly recommended for anyone in the South Bay, San Francisco, or the Peninsula who values quality!

What a beautiful job! I just picked up my two sarouk. Kilims today. I took them in for cleaning and repair. Ally took such great care of them, by cleaning, restoring the fringed edges, and mending where there had been a few moth holes. If you care about your rugs, PLEASE speak with him before you talk to anyone else!

Ali is an honest, kind and experienced man. His knowledge of rugs is tremendous. And the love he has for his work shows with the individual care he gives each rug.

We brought in a small silk prayer rug from Istanbul that had a terrible patch of adhesive on it. (It may have been tar) Ali was able to remove the unknown substance and our rug looks good as new! I cannot see any remnant of where the problem was.

His prices are very reasonable, honest and transparent

If I could rate 10/5 stars, I would. I came to get two rugs cleaned because we have pets, and the rugs hadnt had a professional cleaning done since we bought them.

Ali was incredibly kind, personable, and also knows his rug information. Price was reasonable for two rugs, and the time from cleaning to pick up was very quick.

Will definitely be back for more when needed! Thank you!

Customer service and work ethic are crucial components of any successful business. Excellent customer service involves going above and beyond to meet the needs of customers, ensuring they feel valued and satisfied. This can include prompt responses to inquiries, personalized interactions, and a willingness to address and resolve any issues that may arise. A strong work ethic is characterized by dedication, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work consistently.

When these two elements come together, it creates an awesome experience for customers. Imagine a scenario where a customer service representative not only resolves an issue efficiently but also does so with a friendly and helpful attitude. This kind of service leaves a lasting positive impression on customers, fostering loyalty and trust in the brand. Additionally, employees with a strong work ethic contribute to a positive work environment, leading to better customer service overall.

Ultimately, businesses that prioritize exceptional customer service and instill a strong work ethic in their employees are more likely to create memorable experiences for their customers, leading to increased satisfaction, loyalty, and overall success.

This review is long overdue. We had stained a rug priced at $3500 to replace (see photos). I had to call almost a dozen cleaners just to find one that would tell me with true confidence that they believe they will succeed. Most of them replied that it would be around $500 with no guarantees.

I finally came across this company and was very impressed by Alis quickness to respond and HIGH confidence. I then learned the difference between a business that is just a cleaning product user versus a business that is a real rug crafter, qualified to modify and repair anything. On top of that, his quote was better than most of the others. The rug is clean and everyone is happy.

This is an amazing company, they pick it up my three dirty rugs which were choven by dog. They did not only clean and remove the stain from my rug, they fixed several spots of my rugs free of charge. One of my rugs had lost tassels. They have added new tassels, again free of charge. Now my rugs look new again. They really saved my expensive rugs
Thanks Baby Area Rugs.

I went to Bay Area rug cleaners to buy a new rug to decorate my apartment, and Ali, the owner, was very nice to me. He had a calm and quiet demeanor and was kind enough to let me look at a carpet in my apartment before deciding to purchase it. Ive since since stopped by sometimes just to chat and play backgammon, and Ive seen him do a lot of repair work as well, since thats mostly what people come in for. Cat urine, dog urine, pet stains, mold, small moth damage it was all fixed! Im surprised at how he was able to make all these rugs look brand new! I asked if he could teach me a couple things, to figure out how to tell the provenance of a rug, but, alas, he said that it takes years to learn, which to be fair Im sure is the case

Anyways, highly recommend its not a polished store where youll get the aura of an Apple Store, but youll get care and service which I think is the most important.

i have vintage family heirloom Turkish rug which needed a deep cleaning.after make a search i found out that the only handmade rugs care company in bay area is bay area rugs company.i took my rug to them to have it deep cleaned.meanwhile my rug had some fries here and there because of its age, when i went there to pick up my rug back it was cleaned.i found out that they have fixed all of smell issue that my rug had...
they said if they did not fix the rug before washing the small fries would have gone even larger during washing, which make sense to me as well...

i think they deserve more than 5 star review because they saved my vintage rug for me..
i found out that rugs cleaners and carpet cleaners are way different.handmade rugs should be cleaned by oriental rug cleaners not by carpet cleaners.
Doctors are not veterinarians and veterinarians are not doctors, they do different things

Bay area rug cleaners stuffs are very friendly and super nice.they know what they do.i highly recommend this place ...

Short Answer: Come here for your rug/ rug cleaning needs

Long Answer: Come to Ali if you want someone who will love your rug more than even you do. He is thoughtful, attentive, and kind to you and your rug. He loves his craft and his customers, and it shows. Ali cleaned and repaired a family heirloom rug for me, after it had been attacked by moths. I will be back with my other rugs soon.

No one can beat Alis prices or service, highly recommend. If you are lucky he will share some wise life advice as well (for free).

I've brought three rugs here to get cleaned--one from Pottery Barn, another high quality rug from Afghanistan, another Turkish kilim-- and Bay Area Rugs and Ali have consistently done a fantastic job. Dirt and water stains were removed, and twice the stubborn smell and stain of cat pee. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work, the attention to detail, and the reasonable prices. Highly recommended for all Bay Area rug cleaning needs, its even worth a long drive!

We recently found a rather large, but VERY dirty second-hand area rug for very cheap. We weren't sure of its value, and if it was actually worth a deep clean.

I called Bay Area Rug Cleaners. The owner asked to send him photos of the carpet, was very responsive and helped me identify that the carpet was a cheap machine made carpet; he also tried to help us with a reasonable quote for cleaning it given the carpet itself was quite cheap.

The carpet is impeccably clean now, it has really lifted our living room and made our home cozy. We also loved getting to know Ali and working with him.

It's the second time I used Bay Area Rug Cleaners for cleaning my dirty rugs. It's a pleasure to work with them. They provide excellent service, staffs are incredibly organized and knowledgeable. They did a beautiful job on a number of badly stained rugs. The technicians are very knowledgeable about different type of stains, different type of fibers/pads, and different treatment techniques to clean the rugs. I will use this company again and again.

Highly recommend. Hand-knotted silk and wool rugs need to be hand-washed, as they have been for thousands of years. Machines have the potential to ruin them, while at the same time costing a fortune in overhead passed directly to the consumer. They washed a valuable wool rug of mine last week. Not only did it come out perfectly soft and clean, but Art inspected it before the cleaning and noticed the side threading was unravelling in several small places. He contacted me first and repaired them, saving them from unravelling in the wash. No place gives better service or care and attention to your rug than here. And what a bargain!
