The Paint Guru

Welcome to The Paint Guru, San Diego's trusted painting company for 35 years. Our story began in 1988 when two brothers, David and Daniel Aguirre, founded T.S. Services. Growing up in the construction field, they learned the trade from their father, Humberto, who was a handyman. Humberto's passion for fixing household problems inspired his sons to follow in his footsteps. The brothers started their operation doing commercial work, but soon realized that residential projects were where their true passion lay.

As the company grew, the brothers continued to cement themselves as residential specialists. However, as the company expanded, the two brothers had a differing opinion on how to run the business. After much deliberation, they decided to go their separate ways, with David taking full ownership of T.S. Services and Daniel starting his own painting company, PQ Painting, which is now known as Gold Standard Painting.

In 2001, David entered into an agreement to use the 1-800-Paint-Job marketing number. Although he didn't own the rights to the number, it proved to be beneficial for the company. A few years later, David renamed the company to 1-800-Paint-Job of San Diego. As the company continued to grow, the need for a name change reared its head. With the rise of smartphones and the decline of memorable phone numbers, the Trio decided to drop the 1-800 name and number and file for a new trademark - The Paint Guru.
