Our History

Founded in 1978, RSP Architects has emerged as one of the country's most trusted, diverse, and agile architecture, consulting, and design firms. Our clients are a dynamic cross-section of established Fortune 100 global brands and retailers, innovative start-ups, thoughtful non-profits, and institutions, and public entities. We approach every project with an eye toward the future - the future for our professionals, our clients, and our world. We design memorable places, solve problems, and create experiences that help our clients reach their goals and make the world a better place.

We provide a full range of professional and creative services across a building's life, passionately committed to leaving things at least a little better than how we found them.

Our Roots

RSP Architects was founded in 1978 by Alexander (Sandy) Ritter, Donald Suppes, and Michael Plautz. Originally called Ritter, Suppes, and Plautz Architects, the firm started with six employees and a rented typewriter. The three young architects each brought a special nugget of talent to the new venture: Sandy is a marketer extraordinaire, Michael is a designer, and Don knows how buildings come together. They shared an obsession for putting the client at the center of everything they do.

Our Journey

Throughout our history, we have been driven by our clients' growth, and our portfolio has diversified and secured commissions across the country. We have worked with the University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, and the Army Corps of Engineers, taking our team into new markets and new geographies. We have also developed value-added services like iSPACE and Dreambox, which round out our toolkit.

Our Offices

Today, we have a truly national footprint with offices in Bangalore, India; Fort Worth, Texas; Baltimore, Maryland; Miami, Florida; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Each office offers RSP's complement of services, with a few specialties emerging: Bangalore strengthens production capabilities, Fort Worth excels at designing highly complex distribution facilities, Baltimore focuses on mission-critical and tech-driven facilities, and Miami excels at commercially driven, mixed-use developments.
