Empowering Lives Through Affordable Housing

Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is a developer, home builder, educator, mortgage banker, retailer, volunteer corps, and development partner in a five-county area: Davidson, Wilson, Cheatham, Dickson, and Robertson. Our mission is to build communities and empower lives through our homeownership program, welcoming our 1,000th homeowner in December 2022! In addition to our core mission, we also advocate for more affordable housing solutions locally and nationally.

Our Passion

We are passionate and driven to create opportunities to empower lives through homeownership. We believe in a world where everyone has an affordable place to call home. "Partnership housing" is in our DNA. From our early days on Koinonia Farm with farmer and biblical scholar Dr. Clarence Jordan to Habitat's eventual founders Millard and Linda Fuller, the concept of "partnership housing" became Habitat for Humanity in 1976. Thanks in part to the personal involvement of U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his late wife Rosalynn and the awareness they have raised, Habitat now works in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries, helping more than 59 million people achieve strength, stability, and independence through housing affordability.

Our Services

We provide a range of services that support our mission to build communities and empower lives through homeownership. Our services include:

  • Homebuilding and Renovation: We develop and build quality homes in Davidson, Wilson, Dickson, Cheatham, and Robertson counties, bringing people together to transform lives and strengthen communities.
  • Homeownership Program: We partner with individuals and families who qualify for the Habitat program and who buy their homes with affordable mortgages.
  • ReStores and Reuse: We operate three ReStores in Davidson, Wilson, and Dickson counties, providing affordable materials and supplies to the community, while also reducing waste and promoting sustainability. We save tons of materials from city landfills annually through our reuse policy.
  • Advocacy and Community Engagement: We advocate at a national, state, and local level for more streamlined affordable housing protocols, equity, preservation, and more affordable housing options throughout our communities.

Our Initiatives

We are committed to innovation and partnerships that create more opportunities for the underserved. We are currently working on several initiatives, including:

  • Community Collaboration: We are leading a Community Collaboration to renovate the historic Parkwood Community Club ballfields, to help establish a 59-acre Metro Park, and build 26 quality single-family Habitat homes in North Nashville.
  • Advocacy: We advocate at a national, state, and local level for more streamlined affordable housing protocols, equity, preservation, and more affordable housing options throughout our communities.
  • Bridge Building: We are part of an initiative with Interfaith America, Catholic Charities, nine other Habitat affiliates, and the YMCA to create bridge-building opportunities to foster healthier, more inclusive communities across the country.
