Our History
Yahle Landscaping and Sod was founded by Leontine and John Yahle in 1926. They were nomad landscapers who traveled from state to state, landscaping government housing projects. Back then, sod was harvested by hand, stacked on a truck, and unloaded by hand. Most often, cut from a pasture or grass field. Sod grown from farms was not yet an industry standard. It wasn't until the 1950s that our family grew sod near West Milton, Ohio. Along with the sod, we grew evergreens and shrubs. In the mid-1960s, Bob Yahle Sr. began operating Yahle Landscaping. The 1960s housing boom in Dayton was underway at this time. Bob installed landscapes at large condo and housing developments in Dayton, Ohio, such as Patriot Square, Valley Brook, Turtle Creek, Salem Woods, and many more.
