Our Story

John Lense Landscape Service is a family-owned business that has been serving the Rochester area for over 60 years. Our company was founded by Cornelius Lense, a gardener from Holland, who brought his skills and knowledge to the United States in the early 1960s. In 1963, his son John Lense took over the business and expanded its services to become one of the oldest and most trusted landscape companies in Monroe County.

Mulches

Spring is here, and we have two varieties of mulches for you to choose from to help beautify your landscape. Our mulches are made from high-quality materials, and we have taken care to ensure that they are blended without any additives. Our two types of mulches are:

Brown Double Ground Aged Hardwood: This mulch is known for its fine texture and is a great choice for established gardens as well as newly planted gardens. It is a pure hardwood material and is free of any additives.

Black Diamond Hardwood: This is our most popular and number one selling mulch. Our black mulch is not as fine as our brown aged hardwood but is perfect for those who want a black mulch. It is 90% water-based dyed and 100% safe.
