Our team consists of a licensed architect with over thirty years of practical experience, an architectural designer with over twenty-five years of architectural experience, and two CAD drafters with architectural education. Each member of our team plays a crucial role in handling different aspects of the project, ensuring that every detail is meticulously considered and executed. We also collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering consultants to provide comprehensive solutions for our clients.

Our History

Our journey began on a cool, wet, fall evening in 1992 when two young architects met with a builder to discuss plans for a small retail plaza in Joliet. This proposal was the first to be considered for the east side of Joliet in over twenty years, an area known for its empty lots, economic disadvantage, and gang activity. Despite the challenges, the architects were excited about the opportunity and designed a Spanish-style plaza with an arched portico and Spanish tile roofing. The four retail units were immediately leased by a taqueria and a Mexican supermarket, and city officials took notice of the positive impact.

The success of this project led to more architectural designs and proposals in the same area, gradually transforming it into a productive and economically viable community. In 1998, the architects decided to name their venture United Architects, and in August 2000, United Architects became incorporated as United Architects, Ltd., a professional service firm with a computerized office and support staff. In late 2001, the firm moved to its present location on Plainfield Road.

Our Services

At United Architects, Ltd., we offer a variety of services to help you achieve your architectural goals. Our services include:

• Code Review: We investigate any codes, ordinances, and regulations that govern your project, including researching The International Building Codes, Illinois Accessibility Code, International Energy Conservation Code, Illinois Plumbing Code, and National Electric and Mechanical Codes.

• Design and Design Development: We design your project to suit your needs and requirements, providing drawings and ideas to produce a preliminary design option. We then work with your preliminary design option and, based on code review, material selections, your special needs, and your input, we develop the final design. This would include floor plans, elevations, and building sections. We meet with you during this phase to secure your satisfaction and approval.

• Construction Documents: We provide a set of comprehensive construction documents, including foundation plans, floor plans, elevations, wall and building sections, and other necessary details to build the building. Also, a manual or list of specifications indicating products, materials, construction procedures, and codes to be used as a standard for the bidding process and construction would be prepared. These construction documents can be submitted for building permits and distributed to contractors for bidding.
