Our Family History

Our journey began in 1986 when Janie Fraser, our founder, decided to pursue her passion for fireplaces and chimneys. Janie is certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America as a Certified Chimney Sweep and Reline Specialist with special training in chimney physics. She has also been a member of the National Chimney Sweep Guild for over 20 years and served as the past president of the Midwest Chimney Safety Council.

Our Family Team

Our team comprises of highly skilled and knowledgeable individuals who are dedicated to optimizing the safety, functionality, and efficiency of all fireplaces and chimneys. We have technicians who are skilled in all aspects of the chimney and heating appliance, from installations to repairs to complete rebuilds and restorations.

Brian Williams, who has been with us for over seven years, is one of our most experienced technicians. His father was a chimney sweep and a firefighter, so he has been working on chimneys since his childhood. He holds certification as a Certified Chimney Professional and has attended several national accredited training workshops over the years.

Amy Dondanville, Janie's daughter-in-law, is our 'Office Warrior' who manages all the business financial, logistical, and administrative details for Alpine Chimney Sweep. She works remotely from Taos, New Mexico, and ensures that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

• Chimney Sweep: Sweeping a chimney is a necessary maintenance task recommended to prevent creosote buildup - a precursor to chimney fires - as well as ash and soot buildup. A swept chimney also draws more efficiently.

• Dryer Vent Sweep: Dryer vent sweeping removes lint and other debris that can obstruct the venting system, increasing the chances of a fire. Only about 25% of the lint from your clothes is collected by the lint trap that slides out the front of the dryer.

• Fireplace Transformation: Construct a new fireplace, add a freestanding stove, or place an insert inside an existing fireplace. Select your fuel type - wood, natural gas, propane, or electric.
