Our Story

Pete's journey in the construction industry began in 1987 when he joined the Carpenters 46 Union of Northern California. He quickly learned the commercial aspect of the trade through projects like Fremont Ford, REI, and Planet Granite. After his apprenticeship, Pete worked with a custom home builder from Lake Tahoe, where he honed his skills in fine craftsmanship and finish work. This experience led him to build 5,000-10,000 sq/ft custom homes in Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

In 1993, Janssen Builders was founded, and Pete went on to build his first project, The Usual Nightclub in San Jose. The impressive finish work and word-of-mouth referrals propelled his business, allowing him to build bars, restaurants, and fine dining establishments in the surrounding area.
