Who We Are

At West Plains Engineering, Inc., we are an engineering firm with a rich history that dates back over 35 years. Our story began in 1984 when two South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and South Dakota State University graduates decided to start their own firm in Rapid City. Since then, we have grown to include three additional regional offices in Sioux Falls, Casper, and Cedar Rapids, all while maintaining our small business dynamic and belief that our designs are only as good as the service we provide.

• Building the David Lust Accelerator Building, an incubator for start-ups and innovators
• Designing the new 22,500 square foot warehouse, manufacturing, and two-story office space for Maven Outdoor Equipment Company
• Upgrading the Animal Disease Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (ADRDL) on the South Dakota State University campus
• Renovating the Devereaux Library at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology
• Building the Summit Arena at The Monument, a 250,000 square-foot event space
