Our Story

Founder Donna Elle has been inspired by Nantucket's natural beauty since she moved to the island as a teenager. Over the years, she has developed a deep connection with the island, which is reflected in her design approach. Donna's expertise spans from dressmaking to bridal and upholstery workroom, and she has studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has raised a family on the island and has chosen to make it her home.

In 2016, Donna's daughter, Katie, joined Donna Elle Design after 15 years in the fashion retail industry. Katie brings fresh ideas and experiences working for brands like Coach, J. Crew, and Tory Burch. She introduced Design ID, a tailor-made e-design solution that clients can have delivered directly to their door.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is centered around creativity, holism, expertise, genuineness, collaboration, intergenerational understanding, and intuition. We believe that every project should start with inspiration and end with timeless design. We are skilled in mill working, stone and tile, lighting, textiles, and custom furnishing. We specialize in developing a color palette that transforms a space and in project management that is transparent, on time, and buttoned up.
