Our Story

Skeen Furniture Company is deeply rooted in the community, with a rich history spanning over 88 years. Founded in 1935 by Ivan and Elizabeth Skeen, our humble beginnings started with a small furniture store on S. Canyon Street. Back then, readily available used furniture and handcrafted mattresses sewn by Elizabeth herself were the cornerstone of our business. During the early 1970s, Kelly Skeen, Ivan and Elizabeth's grandson, purchased the old Sears building, significantly expanding the family enterprise. He brought in renowned brands like LA-Z-BOY, making Skeen Furniture the first of its kind in New Mexico to offer such quality. His commitment to "value and service" became the guiding principle for subsequent generations.

Following Kelly's footsteps, Martha and later Curtis Skeen, continued the legacy, adapting to the evolving furniture industry while maintaining the core values of quality, service, and customer satisfaction.

Today, we stand as a testament to that enduring dedication. Our expansive 30,000 square foot showroom, showcasing a wide array of furniture and accessories, is a reflection of our evolution. From traditional to contemporary, we cater to diverse tastes and styles, offering pieces that transform houses into homes.
