MEMBERSHIP reuse + repair = resilience
Who We Are
At ReBuilding Center, we are committed to making reuse and repair accessible to all. As a climate justice organization, we believe that the ability to perform home repairs is a key factor in keeping people safe in their homes and resilient in the face of climate change, especially for those living with low incomes. We know that a tremendous amount of useful building and construction materials fill up our landfills every year, and we're on a mission to connect this material with the people who need it. We're dedicated to teaching folks how to repair instead of replace, and to reducing waste and overconsumption in our community.
Our Services
Our 30,000 sq. ft. store is a treasure trove of Portland architectural history salvaged from deconstructed and renovated old homes, as well as new materials from our partners in construction and development. We offer a wide range of building and home improvement materials at affordable prices, from $50 solid wood doors to high-quality lighting, plumbing, and more. We accept donations of building materials and home goods and return them to our community, ensuring that people can afford the materials they need to safely repair and renovate their homes.
Our Classes
Through our repair skills classes, we teach our community how to perform safe, affordable, and sustainable home repairs and improvements. Our classes cover a wide range of topics, from basic carpentry to plumbing and electrical work. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn these skills and become more self-sufficient in their home repairs. Our classes not only save our community money but also build economic resilience and empower people to stay in their own homes.
Our Mission
Our mission at ReBuilding Center is to create a community of savvy, self-sufficient home improvers who value reuse and repair over waste and destruction. We believe that by connecting people with the materials and skills they need to repair and maintain their homes, we can build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient community.
