Our History

Great American Fireplace's journey began in 2002 when Rob Best, with his background in construction, custom cabinetry, and design, entered the hearth industry. Driven by a passion for delivering exceptional results, Rob embraced the National Fireplace Institute (NFI) training to hone his skills. Starting from the ground up, Rob managed every facet of the business-sales, installations, full wall surrounds (built from both wood and stone), and customer service. He dedicated himself to building a reputable name based on quality and trust, always aiming to exceed customer expectations.

Rob's commitment to his craft and genuine desire to understand his clients' needs allowed him to create truly stunning fireplace designs that surpassed expectations. He has a knack for capturing his clients' vision, adding his own touch of expertise to ensure their dream fireplace becomes a reality, a testament to their style and a source of enjoyment for years to come.

Over time, Rob's business grew, attracting talented individuals who shared his passion for excellence. In 2006, Rob welcomed his lifelong friend, Travis Beaver, to the team as an installer and service technician. Travis brought a wealth of knowledge in electrical and mechanical systems to the table, further enriching Great American Fireplace's expertise. His expertise spans NFI training, advanced electrical classes, manufacturer-specific training, and specialized HVAC courses. With over 12 years of dedicated service in the field, Travis is a trusted resource for both his clients and various fireplace manufacturers.

The year 2013 marked a significant milestone for Great American Fireplace when Rob partnered with Dale Amundson, who had built a thriving 30-year business named Great American Homes and Fireplace in Menomonie, WI. A shared vision for quality and customer satisfaction fueled the decision for Dale and Nancy to pass the torch to Rob and Danielle. This transition not only expanded Great American Fireplace's capabilities but also solidified its position as the premier fireplace provider in the region.
