"First impressions have no do overs." - Paul E. Dutelle

Our History

Paul E. Dutelle and Co., Inc. has been family-owned and operated since 1893. The company was founded by Paul E. Dutelle, who purchased it from John Farquhar Sons Inc., under whom he apprenticed. John Farquhar established the company originally in 1823. Over the years, the company has had several presidents, including George B. Jarvis, Sr., who served as Vice President under Mr. Dutelle and later became the owner and president after Mr. Dutelle's passing. Today, Charles T. Curran is the current president, ensuring that the business remains family-owned and operated for over a century.

Our Services

Customer satisfaction has been the cornerstone of our success for over a century. We are proficient in all types of roofing systems, including slate, tile, wood, asphalt, and copper. We also provide additional services such as wood clapboard and wood shingle repair/installation, historical building restoration of gutters, trim, and decorative overhangs, yearly gutter cleaning/maintenance contracts, and semi-annual/annual roof maintenance programs. Our experience and vast knowledge in these areas ensure that we can meet the needs of residential, commercial, and historical preservation projects.

Portfolio

Our extensive portfolio includes work on numerous projects such as Longwood Cricket Club, Boston College, Newton Cemetery, Philips Academy, Newton Country Day School, Boston Symphony Hall, Brimmer and May School, and the Dexter School. We have also worked on historical landmarks and with various historical preservation groups, such as Historic New England, focusing on authenticity and duplication of the look and feel for each landmark. You can view some of our work at the Fruitland Museum, the Old North Church, the Don Orion Shrine, Harvard Public Library, the First Church of Christ-Lancaster, the Cooper Frost home, Lyman Estates, and the Spencer Pierce Little Farm.
