"It's not that hard to be nice to your trees" - Steve Wortinger
Steve Wortinger, an ISA Certified Arborist, has been deeply involved with nature since he could walk. Born in rural northern Indiana, the son of a soy bean farmer, his hands are no stranger to dirt. In the early 1970's Steve attended landscape design and construction school in the San Francisco Bay area. After graduation, he spent over 30 years in horticulture in one form or another. Lots of planting, maintaining, and general care led Steve to become a true professional in the green industry.
A turf grass specialist, composting consultant, and fertilizer manufacturing soon led to Master Gardener and then to Certified Arborist. Steve has also held a WA State pesticide license. Add all this experience up, and you have an outstanding Certified Arborist who truly cares about the trees and plants he sees getting abused and neglected. And almost instinctively knows what needs to be done. "It's not that hard to be nice to your trees" Steve says. "I can always find ways to keep the costs of tree work to a minimum."
Steve is proud to be accredited through the Better Business Bureau. View details for Steve the Arborist on the BBB website here.
Services Offered
Steve offers a variety of services to help you see the "big picture" of your trees and how they are interconnected with other plant life on your property. With a focus on holistic plant health care, Steve can help you maintain and care for your trees and plants.
Tree Health Assessments
Trees and plants age and develop problems based on the environment they're in. Best practice is prevention by feeding and maintaining your trees and plants before a problem arises. If the problem is already present, Steve makes a visual inspection which may include using binoculars or a hand-held microscope. In rare cases where the problem needs further investigation, a leaf or soil sample is sent for lab testing.
Tree Risk Assessments
Steve has extensive experience determining and rating the possibility of a tree becoming dangerous to life or property. With a tree risk assessment, you'll get thoughtful and timely recommendations on how to approach problem trees.
Consulting & Recommendations
Get to know your trees by spending some time with Steve walking around your property. As an ISA Certified Arborist, and a person that's highly in tune with plants, Steve can provide valuable recommendations. If you've just bought a house and would like to get a better idea of what your trees need and how to care for them, Steve can provide consulting to help you feel safe about your investment. It's better to establish a solid game plan early on, rather than wait until problems start to appear.
Arborist Reports
This is a written report to be shared with another property owner or the city building department. Steve assists by spelling out the situation of a specific tree or trees that may be of concern. One example of a need for this kind of report is when there is an absent property owner, and the city or other property owners are concerned about a tree or trees on a property.
Steve is always ready to answer your tree questions or provide a helpful estimate. Well, unless he's got his hands in the dirt. Steve Wortinger provides tree care services for Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula, the surrounding Olympic Peninsula, and the general Puget Sound area.
