In 1980, he joined Jost & Wiens Construction, where he worked as a job superintendent under the guidance of Simon Wiens. Simon's emphasis on honesty, positive customer relationships, and quality products resonated with Wayne, who later became a partner in Wiens & Dudley Construction Company, Inc. The partnership lasted for over a decade before the two partners decided to dissolve the company, resulting in the creation of Dudley Construction Company, Inc.
