Central Plastics Inc., located in McPherson, Kansas, is a leading provider of custom plastic extrusions. Our company was founded more than 50 years ago, in 1968, by Chester Houghton, and has since been led by owners Dennis Houghton, Mark Houghton, and Kent Houghton. With a combined experience of over 30 years in the custom profile business, our team has been dedicated to delivering high-quality extrusions at competitive prices.

Materials

Central Plastics extrudes a wide range of materials to cater to diverse industries. These include Flexible Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Rigid Polyvinyl Chloride (RPVC), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Santoprene Rubber (TPE), Vyram Rubber (TPE), High Heat Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polyurethane (PU), PVC-NITRILE Rubber, EPDM (limited markets), Various TPE's, and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Additionally, we extrude screen spline, glazing beads, wrap-around glazing, and rigid PVC for the fenestration industry.

Capabilities

Our state-of-the-art facility occupies 210,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space. We operate forty-six plastic extrusion machines and twenty-one co-extrusion machines, running twenty-four hours a day, five days a week, with over 200 full-time employees. This enables us to provide our clients with an extensive range of custom extrusions that meet their specific requirements.

Strategic Partnerships

Central Plastics has a strategic partnership with Ultrafab, Inc., a privately held manufacturing firm located in upstate New York. This partnership allows us to expand our capabilities and reach a broader client base, ensuring that we can provide the best possible service to our customers.

Green Materials

At Central Plastics, we are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We extrude flexible vinyl with a bio-based plasticizer, which results in a material that is free of heavy metals, has a high renewable carbon content, and a low carbon footprint with up to 50% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to phthalate plasticized vinyl. This also improves physical properties versus phthalate-based compounds, including low temperature properties, thermal stability, dynamic color hold, and outdoor weatherability.
