At Garmong Construction, we've been building a legacy for nearly a century. Founded in 1923 by Claude H. Garmong, our company has grown from a small housing development operation to one of the leading construction management companies in Indiana. With a rich history dating back over nine decades, we've learned the value of hard work, innovation, and family values.

Our Story

Claude H. Garmong started his company with a vision to build the American Dream, one house at a time. He worked tirelessly to establish subdivisions, including Edgewood Grove, and eventually converted his construction operation into a munitions box depot during World War II. After the war, Claude recognized the importance of education and sent his son, Karl, to Rose Polytechnic Institute. Karl joined the company in 1935 and expanded its focus to commercial projects, designing and building schools, gas stations, and churches.

Our Family Legacy

Karl's son-in-law, Kenneth Hannum, joined the firm in 1956, bringing a fresh perspective to industrial projects. As the company continued to evolve, Karl's son, David Hannum, joined in 1989, becoming the first third-generation graduate in Rose-Hulman history. Under David's leadership, Garmong Construction added full-service engineering and architectural design, design-build capability for large industrial projects, and financing and development capabilities for commercial and industrial projects.
