James J. Welch & Co. has a rich history that spans over 165 years, dating back to 1852 when James J. Welch established the company with a focus on stone masonry in Salem, Massachusetts. Over the years, the company has evolved to become a full-service general contracting and construction management firm, serving both residential and commercial clients throughout New England. Today, the company remains a family-owned business with its seventh generation of family management still residing in Salem, Massachusetts. Our commitment to "client-first" services has earned us a reputation as a dedicated, reliable, and trustworthy partner for our clients.

Our services include:
- Construction Management: We will oversee the planning, design, and construction of your project from inception to completion. Working closely with our clients, architects, and industry partners, we can make collective decisions that ensure the successful completion of your project. Our services include value engineering, site evaluation, material selection, delivery times, and a safe project approach during the pre-construction phase of a project.
- General Contracting: As your general contractor, it is our responsibility to provide materials, labor, equipment, and services necessary for the construction of your project according to the plans and specifications. We will hire qualified subcontractors and perform general and sub-trade bidding and analysis. In some cases, we can self-perform certain trades if it is beneficial to the budget and schedule. We will ensure that the work is being done according to the contract documents.
