Capital Restoration was founded in 1997 by John Allen, an expert with extensive experience in antique restoration, furniture repair, and refinishing. John Allen, our owner, has been working with fine antiques his entire adult life. With a background in archaeology, he spent six years as a museum director and curator, caring for historic artifacts. He moved to Raleigh in 1995 to work at the North Carolina Museum of History's conservation lab, where he concentrated on furniture and frame restoration. This experience and training have allowed him to establish Capital Restoration, providing expert restoration services to area museums, historic sites, universities, antique dealers, and private owners.
