David W. McKee Architect, PLLC is a Fayetteville, Arkansas-based architecture firm specializing in organic architecture. Our team is currently composed of four professionals, two of whom are licensed architects. Our principal designer, David McKee AIA, LEED AP, is a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas and has contributed to the design and construction of some of the region's most iconic buildings. Our team's collective experience includes graphic design, computer-aided design (CAD), project management, and sustainable design strategies.

Our design philosophy prioritizes timelessness, sustainable design strategies, and contextual appropriateness. We strive for a design approach that is not swayed by fleeting trends but rather draws from the inherent nature of a place. Our work seeks to create a sense of belonging and shared identity that resonates within a community. Our designs aim to integrate materials, memories, movements, and cultural contexts to create edifices that are respectful of their surroundings.

Our Services

Our services encompass a wide range of project types, including residential, commercial, and institutional commissions. We approach each project with a focus on user-friendly planning and sustainable design strategies that result in maintenance-friendly detailing. Our portfolio features projects such as the 315 Mountain Street and Wyman Rd. Residence, as well as institutional projects like the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks and Sunrise Enterprises.

315 Mountain Street

One of our recent projects, 315 Mountain Street, exemplifies our design philosophy laid out in the NWA Design Excellence Program. This adaptive reuse structure was originally built in 1957 as a tire store, then transformed into a restaurant and a mixed-use facility. Our team recognized and preserved the Mid-century Modern aesthetic of the building's exterior while renovating the interior to serve as an office for the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation. The building is located in close proximity to the Fayetteville Public Library, Fire-station, downtown square, Dickson Street, and University campus facilities, allowing easy access for pedestrians and vehicles alike.

Sustainable Design Strategies

At David W. McKee Architect, PLLC, we prioritize sustainable design strategies and maintenance-friendly detailing. Our focus on these areas results in environmentally-conscious buildings that cater to the needs of our clients while being good stewards of our environment. Our work on the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, Butterfly Pavilion, and Visitor's Center highlights our commitment to organic architecture and sustainable design principles. The Chastain Farms and ESSA Blacksmith Studio projects further illustrate our firm's dedication to adaptive reuse and preservation of existing structures.
