At Alex by Design, we believe that your home should be a reflection of your personality and style. Our mission is to help you create a space that is both beautiful and functional. We offer a wide range of services including furniture planning and sourcing, window coverings, lighting, rug, paint, wallpaper, and accessory selections. Our goal is to make your space livable and unique to you and your family.

Starting in 1998, after being in the fashion world, our founder began her interior decorating career at ABC Carpet & Home in New York City. She specialized in fabrics and later diversified into lighting, furniture, and accessories. She then went on to study at the New York School of Interior Design and Berkeley College. In 2006, Alex by Design, LLC was established as an interior decorating firm in Upper Montclair, NJ.

Our Services

We offer a variety of services to help you achieve your desired look. From furniture layouts with new and existing furniture to custom furniture, we can help design your home to exactly how you live and your family. We also specialize in upholstery and re-upholstery, making your existing furniture like new at a fraction of the cost of new. Our network of furniture stores allows us to find the exact piece of furniture you need for your space. Additionally, we can assist with window treatment design and fabrication, selecting wall coverings and paint, and choosing the perfect carpet and area rugs to tie everything together.
