Firm Philosophy
Our firm philosophy revolves around a passion for design, hard work, and having fun along the way. We have leaned more and more toward minimalism and a modernist approach to our designs while keeping eyes wide open to the environmental and built context. Add in the end user's programmatic requirements to complete the march towards form following function. Historically, the term 'modern architecture' describes an architectural style lacking ornamentation and embracing minimalism, usually by incorporating the use of glass, steel, and concrete. Modern design to us means functional, empathetic, sustainable, and edited design.
History
Rush Dixon Architects was founded in 2005 by Rush Dixon, who met his future business partner, Judy Maragioglio Dixon, during architecture school at Virginia Tech's College of Architecture + Urban Studies. The firm has since grown to include a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential projects in and around Charleston, SC. Over the years, the firm has evolved, exploring new ideas and refining its approach to modern design.
Commitment to Community
We believe that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. We invest in our local community and the industry at large to help create an equitable landscape for all by supporting organizations such as the National Organization of Minority Architects' HBCU Professional Development Program, ACE Mentors, and Lowcountry Local First.
