Protecting Your Home, Building Relationships, One Roof at a Time.

Maine Village Weaver is a family-run business that specializes in hand-woven textiles. Our passion for weaving started many years ago, and today, we're proud to offer a wide range of products, from shawls and scarves to home decor items and even baby blankets. Each piece is carefully crafted by hand in our studio, located in a beautiful 1790's Federal home on the coastal Pemaquid peninsula.

Our weaving studio is a cozy and inviting space where we enjoy meeting customers who drop in during the day. We're dedicated to creating custom items for our clients, working closely with decorators and homeowners on individual projects. If you have a specific order in mind, we'd be happy to work with you to bring it to life.

In addition to our online shop, our work is also available at select retailers across the country. We've been fortunate enough to be featured in several publications, including "Colonial Homes, " "Country Living, " and "Country Home." Our commitment to quality and craftsmanship has earned us a place in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Directory of Traditional American Crafts, published in the August issue of Early American Life Magazine.

We're proud to be part of several professional affiliations, including Maine Fiber Arts, the Handweavers Guild of America, and the Maine Crafts Association. These connections allow us to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in our field.

Our Story

Phyllis Leck, the founder of Maine Village Weaver, began her weaving journey in the late 1970s. As a young mother living on an island north of Seattle, Washington, she would spend long stretches of time weaving during her husband's fishing trips. After moving back east, Phyllis continued to weave, incorporating Early American inspired patterns into her work. Her dedication and passion for weaving have earned her recognition and respect within the craft community.

Meet Our Family

We're a family-run business, and our family members are all involved in different aspects of the business. Andy Leck, Phyllis's husband, operates the Scottish Wrought Iron blacksmith shop just steps away from the weaving studio. Their oldest son is in the Merchant Marine, while their daughter, Annie, has established the Barn Door Baking Company in Damariscotta, Maine. Their son, Zackarya, practices the blacksmith art in the state of Washington.
