Wm. S. Trimble Company, a family-owned business, was established in 1936 by William S. Trimble in Knoxville, Tennessee. Initially, the company sold reinforcing steel from a rented office at Roehl Construction Company on Atchley Street. Over the years, the company diversified its operations by adding specialty products, including becoming a major supplier for Overhead Door Corporation and subcontracting through the installation of Overhead Door products. During World War II, the company expanded its building specialties area by adding Fenestra Steel windows. In 1948, the company was incorporated, and its product lines continued to grow to include contract hardware.

Upon the death of William S. Trimble in 1958, his wife, Eleanor H. Trimble, became the President and continued the company's growth in product lines and sales volume, including entry into the contract hardware business. In 1968, after Eleanor's death, Jim Seiber was elected President and oversaw the addition of more products and the company's continued growth. In 1987, Wm. S. (Scott) Trimble Jr. became President and maintained the tradition of quality goods and services that his parents began. In 2008, Scott retired, and William (Bill) S. Trimble III took over, continuing the family tradition. Today, the company is committed to serving its customers in the construction industry and looking for new opportunities to grow.
