Our Story

RTE Cabinets & Millwork is one of Baton Rouge's premier cabinet shops. We are a family-owned and operated, fully licensed and insured custom shop. We service the Greater Baton Rouge area as well as Southern Mississippi. We regularly ship our product across state lines so don't hesitate to contact us for your next project. Along with a full line of custom cabinetry, we offer interior and exterior millwork as well as standing and running trim.

Quality Craft, Functional Design, Simple Elegance

We recently worked with Tom Ashley of Expand, Inc. on a newly constructed home in Baton Rouge, LA. For the project, we designed and built a library space - crafting the bookshelves, the wall trim, and the doors. Our work speaks for itself, showcasing the elegance and simplicity that we strive to achieve in every project.

Rodney Tassistro, President and Owner

Rodney is the entrepreneur and craftsman behind RTE Millworks. In the summer of 1998, Rodney discovered his passion for woodworking shortly after his mother, Marion, hired him to restore antique doors and windows for the new home she was building. In the months following, Rodney disassembled and repaired old doors, windows, newel posts, handrails, and countless other objects. Working with his hands to restore the century-old millwork was fascinating to him. He began to study time-honored construction methods and classical scale and proportion from none other than his mother who grew up in a family of historical restorers and antique collectors and is herself an avid student of art and architecture. After finishing this summer project, Rodney apprenticed under a master craftsman for the next four years, learning about the production of cabinets and the art of door building. While apprenticing, Rodney opened RTE Custom Manufacturing in 2001. "This is a visionary company, one that was built on core values of quality. Marion Drennen, Vice President

Marion Drennen is a professional artist who experiences the world visually. To her, the design is what matters. Marion established the backbone of RTE's quality standards with her diverse background in art, restoration, and her eye for proper scale and proportion. Having set these values, RTE has established a reputation as a custom manufacturer that plays close attention to detail, a fact that is evident in every project that RTE has designed and built. Currently, she is pursuing her career as a professional artist and assisting in the design department of RTE. "Good cabinet design is no more expensive to create than bad cabinet design. Not to be confused with features such as wood species, paint color, door style or specialty items, good design is determined by plan, scale, and proportion."

Cabinetry

We are a true design-build operation. All cabinetry is built in our facility using state-of-the-art machinery as well as top-of-the-line hardware and construction methods. We uphold AWI quality standards through every process and can meet your custom needs as specified by your architect. Every project will receive 3-D drawings before any material is processed. This assures our clients that "what you see, is what you get." Our cabinets can either be installed by our own highly skilled team or we can ship directly to your jobsite.

Millwork

We can handle any of your custom needs when it comes to millwork. We build in all species, solid core or stave core doors, interior and exterior. Whether you're looking to create a statement piece or simply need functional solutions, we're here to help.
