Our History

C.L. Carter Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. is a trustworthy family business that knows how important reliability and comfort are to you. Founded by Calvin and Ellen Carter in 1968, our business started in their garage in Virginia Beach and later moved to a small shop off Pennsylvania Avenue in Virginia Beach. After years of growth, we built a new office, warehouse, and sheet metal shop in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake, where we are currently located. Our daughter, Laurie Carter Bleh, joined the business soon after and currently serves as Vice President.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide our customers with value, reliability, and quality customer service through everything we do. We are a Class A licensed contractor, proudly serving the Tidewater area, Williamsburg, the Eastern Shore, and Northeastern North Carolina. To better serve our customers, we are proud members of the Qualified Gas Association and Commonwealth Contractors Group Self-Insurance Association.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to meet your heating and cooling needs. Our service department is prompt and highly experienced, available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on holidays. Our team works hard to respond to your service needs on the same day whenever possible. We also offer maintenance agreements to ensure your heating and air conditioning systems are functioning properly. We use only top-quality equipment, including York, Trane, Carrier, Amana, Aprilaire, and Honeywell. We design your system using custom metal ductwork, assuring it will last the longest and produce the highest level of indoor air quality.

Residential Services

Our residential services include heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, gas packs, gas fireplaces, gas furnaces, oil packs, oil furnaces, air conditioners, hot water heaters, hybrid systems, dual fuel systems, mini splits, PTACs, zoning systems, dehumidifiers/humidifiers, air cleaners, exhaust systems, attic fans, and more. We install and service many different brands of equipment.

Our commercial services are designed to provide our clients with significant energy savings and the most comfortable indoor environment. We offer a comprehensive range of products and services, including HVAC installations, system design, maintenance/service plans, and prompt service.
