At JD Designs, we are a professional building design firm with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Our President and Principal Designer, Jennifer Davis, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from San Jose State University and is a past president of the California State Society of the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD). Our team has earned numerous awards and recognition at various local, state, and national design competitions sponsored by national trade organizations and media sources.
Our Services
At JD Designs, we specialize in the design of residential additions, interior remodeling, second-story additions, and master planning of remodeling an entire house. We also design custom residences and provide full-service designs that include construction cost planning and working drawings suitable for planning department approval and building permits. Additionally, we offer a design/build approach, where we work closely with a select group of contractors to ensure continuity, quality, and cost-effectiveness throughout the design and construction process.

How We Work
Our process begins with meeting with clients to evaluate the project, define the scope of work, verify the feasibility, and compare the scope of work to the construction budget. We then prepare a contract and outline fees to complete permit-ready plans. We check and verify local zoning codes, and upon acceptance of the contract, we measure the "as-built" floor plan and site. We design the first draft of the project design and present it to the client. We meet with the client to review feedback and revise the design as necessary. We meet with a prospective contractor to ensure that the design will fit within the construction budget and modify the plan accordingly, if required. We obtain any special design approval required from the local Planning Department and prepare construction documents. If required, we engage structural engineers and/or other outside consultants. We send out final plans for final bids and submit them to the local building department for plan check/approval for permits.
