Our Story

At Hatchet General Contracting, our story begins with a passion for building homes that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and energy-efficient. Our founder, Jacob Hawkins, has over a decade of experience in the construction industry, starting as a Chief Operations Officer and Project Manager for a residential construction company in Kansas City. During his time there, he noticed a significant gap in the way homes were being built, with builders prioritizing profit margins over the well-being of their customers.
